Te Ahuru Mōwai: Creating Homes for Ngāti Toa Whānau
We are humbled to partner with Te Ahuru Mōwai to support their vision of creating healthy homes and spaces that foster well-being for Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira.
Te Āhuru Mōwai has a vision to deliver ‘mixed tenure and ‘beautiful’ developments where the Tamariki of private owners, renters and social/ community housing tenants play together in the street, go to the same school, learn, and grow together with their whānau and neighbourhood.’ The developments provide for a variety of housing sizes – 2, 3, 4 and 6 bedroom houses in three locations - Dimock Street, Whanga Cresent, and Tuki Street .
The key design considerations are guided by the principles of Te Whare Tapa Whā: Whenua – being grounded, Taha Tinana – physical well-being, Taha Hinengaro – mental and emotional well-being, Taha Whānau—family well-being, and Taha Wairua—spiritual well-being.
