Tūtere Lakes

Currently Under Construction

Affectionately known as Tutere Lakes, this new coastal home on the Kāpiti Coast replaces a much-loved family bach, a place steeped in memories and the moments of a growing family.

The new home borrows much from the spirit of the old bach, creating a warm, healthy haven for another lifetime of memories. It is no more than it needs to be, deliberately bucking the trend towards ever-larger beach houses and instead focusing on simple, well-designed spaces for family life.

Built by: Pinnacle Construction

The design takes its cues from the site and the driftwood scattered along the beach just a stone’s throw away. Existing planting and the beautiful mature trees that have made themselves at home here are carefully retained, with the house settling quietly amongst them.

Spaces are arranged to capture the sun differently throughout the day and create moments of connection with the wider site, from the kitchen garden and front lawn to the fire pit beneath the shelter of the gum trees. The house is designed to feel cosy when it is just a few people at home, but equally capable of welcoming the wider family back together.

Simple in form and clad in macrocarpa, Tutere Lakes is intended to sit across the land much like a piece of driftwood rests on the beach: quiet, unobtrusive and as though it has always belonged there.

Now under construction, we look forward to sharing more as the house takes shape.
